Hurdles: Falling Trail Leg Drills
The falling trail leg drill teaches athletes to actively push then pull the trail leg all the way through. As the left foot starts to fall, initiate push off the right foot. Once the athlete pushes off the right foot, activate the hands and pull the right foot through as quickly as possible.

The falling hurdle drill using the opposite leg is useful for 400 hurdlers. The athlete falling over the top with the right leg is then actively trying to push off the left leg or the trail leg. The falling of the right foot activates the pulling of the left foot. After the pulling of the left foot, have a quick left hand and pull the trail leg all the way through.
